Aalborg Carnival | Aalborg - a middle-sized city in northern Denmark - plays host to the largest carnival parade in Northern Europe each May. Around 25,000 people participate and more than 100,000 join in along the route. In 2007 the event celebrated its 25th year. One highlight is the Battle of Carnival Bands. Selected groups from around the world parade through the centre of Aalborg and then hit Kildeparken, where they perform on stage in front of four judges. The grand finale, featuring the top five groups from Friday's contest, takes place in Kildeparken after the Grand Parade.
Children have their own version of the parade on the Sunday, with "Masquerade" as this year's theme. Buy Now | Rebild Festival
 | Denmark celebrates America's independence, as it has every year since 1912, on the rolling, heather-covered hills of Rebild National Park. Danes, Americans and others come together for a lively outdoor celebration which includes bands, singing, talks and fireworks. This annual festival is one of the largest outside the USA and offers an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants. The tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between the USA and Denmark, and over the decades hundreds of thousands of Danish-Americans and others have joined in the fun.
The Stars and Stripes of the USA and the Danish Dannebrog flag are flown side-by-side while music, entertainment, singing and speeches by prominent Americans and Danes fill the days. Among others, Rebild speakers have included members of the Danish royal family and former presidents of the United States of America, George Bush, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.
